The Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen is the independent data protection and freedom of information authority for North Rhine-Westphalia. As Germany's most populous state and home to a large share of its corporate headquarters, its supervisory reach is substantial: it handles citizen complaints, inspects organisations, advises businesses and public bodies, and enforces data protection obligations across the state.
