The DRSC is Germany's accounting standards committee, based in Berlin and constituted as a private association whose membership spans listed and private companies, banks and insurers. It develops the Deutsche Rechnungslegungs Standards, which principally address consolidated financial reporting under the Handelsgesetzbuch, advises the German legislator on accounting matters, and represents German interests in European and international standard-setting through EFRAG and the IASB.
What the DRSC publishes
- Deutsche Rechnungslegungs Standards (DRS), and the drafts that precede them
- Interpretations and application guidance on German consolidated reporting
- Comment letters to the IASB, EFRAG and national consultations
- Research studies, including work on the expected financial effects of proposed standards
- Material on European sustainability reporting as it lands on German entities
Why it matters for compliance teams
German consolidated accounts prepared under the HGB follow the DRS, and those standards fill in a great deal that the statute leaves open — cash flow presentation, segment reporting and group management report content in particular. For groups that also report under IFRS, the DRSC's comment letters are a useful early read on which European positions Germany will push for.
Seqlense DOC indexes DRSC standards and drafts alongside EFRAG endorsement material and the other national standard-setters, so a reporting team can compare German requirements against the European and international baseline.
